How to Hang Metal Wall Art (Without Wrecking Your Walls)

• A measuring tape and a pencil
• A small spirit level (or your phone's level app)
• Wall hooks, screws, or adhesive hooks rated above the piece's weight
• A drill for masonry walls (most Pakistani homes) or a hammer for hooks

Step 1: Find the right height

The gallery standard is to hang art so its centre sits about 57-60 inches (145-152 cm) from the floor - roughly eye level. When hanging above furniture, leave a gap of 8-10 inches (20-25 cm) between the top of the sofa or console and the bottom of the art, so the two feel connected without crowding.

Step 2: Mark your fixing points

Hold the piece against the wall (a second person helps) and pencil-mark where the top edge sits. Then measure down to where the hanging points are on the back of the piece and mark those. Use your level to keep the marks even - this is the step that decides whether it hangs straight.

Step 3: Mount it

On a concrete or brick wall, drill a small pilot hole, insert a wall plug, and drive in the screw or hook. For lighter pieces on drywall or tiled surfaces, strong adhesive hooks avoid drilling altogether - just clean the wall first so they bond properly.

Hanging without drilling

Renting, or hanging on a tiled or marble wall? Heavy-duty adhesive strips and hooks (rated well above the piece's weight) hold most small and medium pieces securely. For large multi-panel sets, we still recommend screws for peace of mind.

Step 4: Level and finish

Hang the piece, place your level along the top edge, and nudge until the bubble is centred. Step back to the far side of the room for the final check - that's the view that matters.

Caring for it afterwards
